Japan Shrine Guide

Designed several pages for a guide to the Ten Shrines of Tokyo for my applied illustration project. Here are some of the final images:

Artsfest 2011

So, I've got confirmation that I'll be at Birmingham Artsfest 2011 this September, both Saturday and Sunday. I'll have some original artwork, prints, some zines and badges to sell, and possibly a couple of t-shirts too.

Feel free to come and say hi! I'll be set up on the Art On The Railings by The Rep. Until then I have uni to finish and some fresh artwork to produce!

Fairytale Land

Fairytale images have been creeping into my painting sketchbook. Rapunzel here is watercolour wash with quink ink and bleach :)

Have some Superflat

Okay, so for my illustration project at uni, I've been studying Japan. Mostly the traditional stuff but I love the superflat style and old prints etc.
So this here's some of the development work to decide upon the style I want to make my Tokyo Shrine Guide in!

Where did all the time go?

Since being back in Shirley for the Easter hols, I have been incredibly busy. Just catching up with life more than busy with drawing. I've done a little bit though - going to get down to some proper stuff later this week - including this pic, A4 markers, of a bike helmet that my mom's partner owns.

I feel like I should work on drawing machines next. It's been a while, anyway. I need to get working anyway because we have our major project coming up, and I applied to the Artsfest too...

Gold Gator Eye

An artist trading card for an eye-themed swap over at ATCsForAll. I've done a set of four but this one is my favourite - 'Gold Gator Eye'.

The Weather In Falmouth

...always amazes me. It's so changable! One minute it's bright blue skies, next thing you have heavy rain and then hail before it goes back to bright and sunny.

'Magpie' Badge Series

A new series of badge sets celebrating things that are shiny or glittery! Each 4-badge set is based on a different colour and the trial run is currently 3 of each set. Pure prettiness is the focus here!

Finished a trial run with my badge maker, using some original drawings on brown paper.
I haven't drawn any hooded characters for a while; I kinda miss it :) I'm aiming to do a numbered set of hand-drawn badges, so that they're one-of-a-kind, and will also produce some regular printed badges as well. :)

Starting Again

Since September I've been studying Illustration at Falmouth University. It's a manic and creativly exhausting time but I'm really enjoying it. Focusing on my studies and dealing with many other creative people has really encouraged my passion for drawing.

However, I have decided that I can no longer ignore this blog! I'll be posting up sketches, doodles and artwork, and am currently developing some small-scale products that will be available to sell soon (my current passion is badges, of which I am an avid collector).

Needless to say, it's time to bring this blog back to life!
